From Sandy Escapes you can take a 4-6 hour (not hard, just long and leisurely) walk to the Fire Island Lighthouse, and back. Highly recommend with water and a lunch!

If you do see the sun set on the Fire Island Lighthouse, we hope you are prepared for a long, night walk on the beach back to Sandy Escapes (or are prepared to take a water taxi back).

Boardwalks go everywhere. You can take them and some trails all the way from the Pines to the Fire Island Lighthouse (pack lunch and water!) We recommend the beach route, mostly.
